Michigan Surgical Quality Collaborative
Michigan surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and the Michigan Blues established this collaborative to improve general and vascular surgery quality in Michigan hospitals. One-year results have shown dramatic cost savings and clinical improvements including:
- Reduced morbidity by 9.4 percent
- Reduced sepsis by 34.1 percent
- Reduced pneumonia by 28.9 percent
- Reduced instances of patients remaining on ventilator for longer than 48 hours by 21.9 percent
- Decreased cardiac arrest by 32.8 percent
